Many of the people who take quizzes on this website are American, so I think it's fair to include some. Kamala Harris especially deserves to be on here since she is now well known not just among Americans but among everyone. That being said, I took off some of the more obscure ones and replaced them with some more well-known figures.
In case anyone is wondering about Indira Gandhi, I had her in the first iteration of the quiz, but I didn't like how typing in "Gandhi" would give away 2 answers, so I decided to just go with the more famous one. Still, without a doubt she is probably one of the most important figures in modern Indian history so I figured it would be worth mentioning her here.
I did that on purpose. Some of these figures aren't very well known among Westerners (even though they are quite famous in India), so I wanted to include a few easier clues. I figure that mentioning that he was Sikh would cause more people to make the connection and thus make the clue easier.
Yep, Satyajit Ray is pretty great. I've only watched two of his movies, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne and Hirak Rajar Deshe, but they're a lot of fun and really artistic, and I hope to watch more in the future. I feel like he's still not that famous outside of South Asia though, so it's so nice seeing you as a German (assuming that based on your user profile) taking interest in him!
Yeah, I heard about her passing yesterday. Very sad, but I'm glad she lived a fulfilling life and was able to share her voice with millions. Accordingly, I've decided to put up a clue for her as a tribute.
I'm assuming you're the one who spotlighted this, so thanks for that!
Oh whoops! I just assumed SM spotlighted because I only just noticed the spotlight when I read their comment. But anyways, thank you! And sorry for not responding to your earlier comment--I usually do but I guess I didn't see that one (and by the time I did, I figured it was too late to reply). I've finally gotten around to it :)
