Knew every one except for the Buddhas, but didn't the Taliban blow those up?
+3
Level 15
Aug 6, 2012
Didn't work. I tried to put in a country for a random landmark, but the quiz only accepted an answer for the highlighted landmark.

That's the way it supposed to be. It just makes it more challenging.

The Moai is in Chile? Man I kept saying Polynesia which is a sub-region and not a country.
+25
Level 69

The Moai are on Easter Island, which belongs to Chile.

Level 16

Could you accept easter island as it is technically an overseas colony of chile?
+33
Level 84

The quiz asks for the country. That's part of the challenge, knowing what country each of these are associated with!
+1
Level 64
Jun 12, 2015
i think easter island or polynesia should be accepted
+22
Level 40
Jan 28, 2016
It's written "country" which refers here to sovereign states. Eastern Island is not sovereign and Polynesion is divided into several sovereign statesso it makes no sense at all..
+2
Level 58
Feb 26, 2018
It should definitely accept easter island if everyone thinks the same, that's democracy

Level 65

nope hirsutebodkin, it is a country quiz. You cant just keep bending the rules cause you like to. If everybody votes that you are 12 years old, you are not suddenly 12 years old. That is not how democracy works. The outlines for this quiz are clear (if they werent, then yes, the grey areas would be up for debate)

Muzz1998 Easter Island is a Special Territory of Chile but regarded as part of Chile as opposed to an overseas colony.

Whenever I see a place with a whole bunch of letters that I couldn't possibly pronounce I type Iceland :)

You ought to try saying something Dutch.

Hallgrimskirkja is by far one of the easier Icelandic words to pronounce.

And you feel no shame for that? :-)

Actually, I'm guessing that many people in a slightly earlier generation know about that from Indiana Jones.

Is there a castle on the Cape of Good Hope? I got that one on a guess.
+1
Level 74
Jun 12, 2015
Yeah, that surprised me too, I'd never heard of it. Wikipedia tells me that it was built in the 17th century and used to be on the coast until land reclamation moved the coast further away. It's an impressive-looking thing.

It's not really on the cape; it's several km further north in the old centre of Cape Town.

My logic: Ryugyong sounds like Pyongyang... North Korea!
+1
Level 68
Nov 26, 2018
You are not alone. However in my case, I didn't think North Korea would have any notable landmarks so I tried South Korea instead. When that didn't work I just assumed I was reaching and moved on.

Actually, if you go by international law the Western Wall is in Jordan.

Funny how nobody ever complained about Jordanians invading, occupying, and even annexing this territory (intentionally razing priceless architectural and historical treasures in the process if they belonged to a religious tradition they didn't like). Not one peep of protest or indignation from anyone.

I got every single one of them... except the space needle. Couldn't exactly recall where or what it was, just knew it had to be in a developed country, but at the same time I figured that the US was the answer to another question, so never even thought to try it.
