reply

Jul 29, 2012
(21)
Seriously? because 'gut' is not a body part. Not only is it slang, it refers to an area, not a specific limb or organ. I do agree, though, about 'rod'. It is technically a three letter body part. I guess "body part" could be further explained too... are we discussion common 'parts' or are organs and other facilitating objects included...

"Where did he punch you?" "Right in the gut." ......"Gut" sounds like a body part to me. Nobody said it had to be a limb or organ.

Gut is not slang, it refers to your upper and lower intestines.
reply
delete
Jun 28, 2013
(68)
"gut: 2. A particular portion of the lower alimentary canal between the pylorus and the anus." (OED) It seems to be used in medical journals, which makes the argument that it is only slang rather weak.

Rod is not included because it is not a tangible part of the body. You cant look at your rods. In addition, they are cells, so not exactly a "part" of the body. Lap is also referring to a region of the body.

a region that vanishes when you stand up. Try getting someone to sit in or on your lap while you are standing!!

Wait so, does that make us all.....heartless?
delete
Nov 18, 2015
(59)
No you can see your heart if someone slices open your chest and wrenches it out of your body, which will probably be the last thing you see. Same goes for any internal organ. The point is, if it is not an organ or part of an organ then it's not included (No cells/tissue)

On the other hand, maybe I should NIP it in the bud before I get SACked. Sometimes I can't resist HAMming it up. Okay, okay, I'll stop. No need to pROD or tempt FATe. I'm FINally done.
