Yeah I was wondering what to do about that - I figured I’d just leave him in until his replacement is confirmed. Unless anyone gets really upset and insists beyond all doubt that he be removed before then 😂
From a sports perspective, England is not important enough to get a squad quiz every tournament when several better teams get none. But perhaps important enough given Jetpunk demographics.
I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but there's no almost no chance Southgate makes it past the Round of 16 if they play Portugal or France. He played for a draw against Scotland today and the team has no attacking intent.
Nobody makes any overlapping runs, he won't play Sancho, and Sterling is getting way too much time. A guy that plays two defensive midfielders against a low block like Scotland is getting bounced early.
I don't know if you count me among them (I consider myself an Anglophone in many things, although not necessarily football) but here's my two cents: after all the undeserved hype and empty swagger of many of its fans during the last umpteen tournaments, England finally delivers. Congrats from a nation that you deservedly beat (and that didn't get a squad quiz even when it won 7-1 against Brazil ;) ).
Now, now most of you: jealousy leaves a bitter aftertaste. Denmark had two or three chops at Sterling before he fell. Penalty.
Yes, we know that there were two balls on the pitch and we're baffled as to how play was allowed to continue: it shouldn't have been. Sorry Denmark: that part really was poor officiating.
To the idiot who shone a laser in Schmeichel's face: let's hope they are eventually named, shamed, and jailed. Until then, the assumption that they are English remains an assumption. I concede that it's very likely to be true.
As for the myth of English arrogance, I can assure you that watching even Southgate's calm, assured team play remains a nerve-wracking experience for those of us who've grown up suffering through so many England games. We've always known that it's not coming home. The song is ironic, and it's fun to dream. Stop taking it so seriously.
Most English fans are passionate, without being crazy. I would love to play soccer in front of those fans. They arguably have one of the best fanbases in the world. But the crazy ones took it a bit too far after the final...
Rule of thumb: if you've decided that an entire population
is arrogant based on the drunken boasts of a dangerously fat, topless, bald man tattooed with many images of the St. George's cross, or any tabloid newspaper (the ones with the red tops), you're making a mistake.
Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for playing!
Knocked out in the Quarter Finals I reckon.

Well done Italy. Best team in the world.
