Fun fact, Australia actually has a higher number of sheep per capita than New Zealand.

Wales has the highest number of half-man half-sheep hybrids due to historical breeding practices.

Nice quiz. It might be worth offering "both" as an option for the official languages question, since it would be a plausible guess IMO.

Agreed. I think any question where both is a possible answer it should be offered.

"Higher" when you choose between two options and "highest" when it's a choice between three or more options.

There are more than two mountains, so "Highest" is more appropriate in this instance

While New Zealand never received convicts as a penal colony to the extent the Australians did, New Zealand for a brief period did see incoming penal labour.

In 1839 after the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand was made a part of New South Wales - the Australian State - and remained so until 1841. In this brief period, New Zealand received prisoners just like Australia until 1841, when New Zealand became a separate colony and deported those convicts back to Australia.

The question was specifically worded to include 'penal settlements' and there were no settlements founded in New Zealand which were penal settlements for the primary purpose of receiving convicts. The convicts that were deported back to Australia in 1841 had absconded from Australia in the first place and then claimed to be whalers and sealers on arrival in New Zealand.

Fun fact, if Antarctic claims are included, Australia has the higher elevations. Dome Argus, the high point of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet is over 4000 meters and is located in the Australian claim. Your mileage may vary on if it is an actual mountain though, that elevation is all ice, and the high point is just the top of a unnoticable rise in the surrounding terrain. The highest mountain in Australian claims, Mount McClintock, is shorter than Mount Cook in New Zealand.

The highest point in the New Zealand claim, (Ross Dependency) is Mount Erebus, which is slightly taller than Mount Cook, but shorter than the measured elevation of Dome Argus.
