It's not hard to memorize at least 13 of them. 6 for the big citites (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth), 3 for the famous island chains (Shetlands, Orkneys, Hebrides), 2 famous battles (Stirling, Falkirk), plus Borders and Highlands.

The Isle of Arran (the most southerly island) 'belongs' to North Ayrshire council- currently it goes green upon entering Argyll...
