Fun fact: the 30th largest city that is the biggest city in its country is larger than the 30th largest city that is not the biggest city in its country. But if you go out to 40th largest for both, it reverses.

Updated for 2019. Not a whole lot changed. Bandung knocked Nanjing off the bottom of the list, a few cities swapped positions, and most cities got at least a small bump in population (Shanghai got a huge one, which I'm guessing is because citypop changed the way they were counting it.)
