They're counted as a country in the ICC's eyes... As pointed out as too are England. Similar to how FIFA view Gibraltar, Faroe Islands etc as countries... Suppose the correct term should just be "International Teams". But yes even so the West Indies/ Windies are very well known to people with even half an interest in Cricket.

One wee photo detail: the white clothing is only worn in 5-day international ("test") matches. For 1-day World Cups, they wear colored clothing that looks like this. In the picture, from the 2015 World Cup final, the Australian bowler has just dismissed the New Zealand batsman by hitting his wickets ("bowled"), causing the wicket to light up.

What Jerry928 says about the kit may be true now but a quick piece of Google images research shows that up to and including the1987 final all white kit was used. As the quiz covers the entire history the picture is not wrong.

In the cricket world, it is! The 10 nations of the West Indies are Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, St Lucia and Dominica. The other 5 "countries" in West Indies are various territories, including US Virgin Islands, the only piece of US territory that's a part of a full cricketing nation.

There is more than one cricket World Cup. There is an odi WC and a T20I WC
+1

Jul 15, 2019
The T20 is a newer concept, called "The T20 World Cup". The one that means the most to the purists which is the ODI version is simply called "The Cricket World Cup". Many die hards don't even acknowledge T20 as true cricket.

That was indeed the single best match in World Cup history, if not the whole cricketing history. Though I do congratulate England on their win, I still believe the trophy should have been shared. Also, New Zealand (poor guys) really deserve to win.
