I am in no means a cricketer, but the instructions state "countries" but the West Indies team is a regional team that covers 15 countries.

They're counted as a country in the ICC's eyes... As pointed out as too are England. Similar to how FIFA view Gibraltar, Faroe Islands etc as countries... Suppose the correct term should just be "International Teams". But yes even so the West Indies/ Windies are very well known to people with even half an interest in Cricket.

One wee photo detail: the white clothing is only worn in 5-day international ("test") matches. For 1-day World Cups, they wear colored clothing that looks like this. In the picture, from the 2015 World Cup final, the Australian bowler has just dismissed the New Zealand batsman by hitting his wickets ("bowled"), causing the wicket to light up.

What Jerry928 says about the kit may be true now but a quick piece of Google images research shows that up to and including the1987 final all white kit was used. As the quiz covers the entire history the picture is not wrong.

In the cricket world, it is! The 10 nations of the West Indies are Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, St Lucia and Dominica. The other 5 "countries" in West Indies are various territories, including US Virgin Islands, the only piece of US territory that's a part of a full cricketing nation.

Interesting. Also interesting is that the first international cricket match was played between Canada and the USA in 1844. Canada won.

The US plays Canada every year, which is the longest running annual cricket rivalry, even longer than the most famous one, England v Australia.

well Canada is much better in cricket than USA and have participated many times in world cup too majorly due to high number of Indian, pakistani and Bangladeshi people living there

I think its funny that you got 89% of the answers on a quiz about something you know nothing about at all, and then blame the quiz for not getting 100%.

I did the same thing. I think the issue is with calling the West Indies a country. It makes no difference that the cricket world calls them a country. This site usually has specific definitions of the word, and if the parameters have changed it would be nice to have a caveat to that effect. (I would never have guessed West Indies even with a caveat, but it's still a valid point for Wardo to make.)

If you don't know cricket, you wouldn't get West Indies anyway. A caveat wouldn't matter. No one has an issue with guessing England even though it's technically not a country either.

Some pretty weird stuff happened in 2003 - Teams forfeiting matches, rain affected matches with consequences - it was as if circumstances conspired to put Kenya in the semi-finals. After that high, it's been a downward spiral for Kenya cricket.
