Only 76 teams have been in the English Premier league every year since its formation in 1992.
Additionally, there are 2 teams that have stayed in since being promoted to the top flight.
It could happen, but I doubt it. They rallied against West Brom last week.
I think they'll stay in, mainly because QPR and Leicester would need a miracle to get out of danger (I think Leicester would have to win 6 of their next 10 to stay in), and Burnley and Sunderland seem to be vying for the last spot...
Thanks, I thought they still had a chance if Swansea, Southampton and West Brom all lost their remaining games, and Stoke won their last by... 16 goals or so. But since Southampton plays Swansea tomorrow, they can't both lose that game. Updated!
Yeah, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I added them in, this is their 5th stint in the EPL, having been relegated in 95, 05, 13, and 16. If their pattern holds, they'll be here for 3 seasons.
The Promoted In section is confusing to me. It seems to infer the year, but it's... what I'm assuming is the location of the promotion? What does it mean? I would change it to the year or just not have it.
I think I see the confusion. It's not asking when they were promoted in, it's asking for the two clubs that, unlike the other 6, were not members of the Premier League when it was founded, but have since been "promoted in" to the top flight by doing well in the 2nd tier of English Football.
Looks like the list may become 7 this year with bournemouth, then again brentford could make it stay at 8, as a brighton fan glad to see us on such a prestigious list!
That draw with Newcastle at least takes Brighton out of the relegation permutations. Bournemouth can stay in if they win, and both Watford and Villa lose on Sunday... for a while I was worried we'd lose both of them at once, and this quiz would be down to just the original 6 again.
Yes, our two quizzes have coexisted for quite a while, though mo918's admittedly predates mine by a couple years. The main difference is that quiz only includes teams that were in the Premier League when it was initially formed, whereas mine includes teams that have since been promoted in. I think my version fits the title of 'never-relegated' better, but it does mean I need to update it more often ;)
