Verse 1
Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
she's overboard
and self assured
oh no, I know a dirty word
Hello, hello, hello, how low ...
Chorus
With the lights out
It's less dangerous
here we are now
entertain us
I feel stupid
and contagious
here we are now
entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido. Yeah!
Verses 2 & 3
I'm worst at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
our little tribe has always been
and always will until the end
[chorus]
And I forget just why I taste
Oh, yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
[chorus]
A Denial!

Weird Al remarked in an interview, "I always thought the lyrics sounded like unintelligible nonsense which was the inspiration for the parody I did. Then I found out that what the lyrics actually were was, 'a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido'..... and then the song made perfect sense!"

Hehe, I remember getting into an argument with a friend of mine from Seattle who insisted that the chorus was actually an interconnected and progressive series of images that led you along the true meaning of the song. I can't remember his explanation well, but somehow he met the girl in the first verse over a mulatto, and then she became an albino when the lights went out (and was therefore less dangerous). The mosquito had something to do with the being worst at what he does best (and feels blessed for the mosquito bite?) and libido was clearly with the 'found it hard' in the last verse.

See--this is why Marijuana was legalized in Washington. All of Puget Sound was already high.

Full Disclosure: I used to live in Eastern Washington, and love the state. Quizmaster--I've heard you're from the Seattle area... Please don't block me...

I thought maybe he was from around Detroit as he seems to be a Lions fan. Or the east coast since the website is updated at midnight EST every day.

@Kal the About Jetpunk page says one brother is from Ann Arbor, the other Seattle

You're both right.

@plattitude "he met the girl in the first verse over a mulatto"

Huh? Was that guy confusing a mulatto with a latte?

@overtired believe me when I say that wasn't the most incomprehensible part of his explanation!

Personally, this is the type of song that I enjoy making up lyrics to. The first type I heard it, it sounded like he was singing "Rock is stupid... and POTATOES!" in the chorus line over and over, so I stuck with that.

I always though it was "with the lights out, it feels dangerous," but it looks like I was wrong. Also, you left out the last lyrics where Kurt screams "A denial!" over and over again...or was it "bloody nylon?" Oh well, fun quiz!

Oh for the love of Pete. How did I miss that? I'll add it, as soon as I compile a list of misheard versions to accept as typeins.

I think on second verse it goes: Our little group - not: Our little tribe?

Both are accepted, as well as a couple others, as Cobain sang it differently in different settings.

What a way to figure out I've been singing it wrong this entire time.
