This will need to be updated soon ;-) On a different note, you might consider to accept Herbert Frahm for Willy Brandt as an easter egg.

Is Scholz official yet? I don't think the was voted by the parliament yet. It's still formally Merkel.

How cool that this quiz made it! :) For anyone who'd like a quick overview of who these people were, go to this blog article. I had meant to write for a long time, and now this quiz getting selected has made me finally do it.

It truly is sad that such a great leader must step down, she had wanted to leave in like 2017 but stayed cuz of a certain POTUS at the time.

What about Walter Scheel, who was Acting Chancellor for one cabinet meeting during the Guillaume Affair? Is that too obscure?

Acting Chancellor means that he filled the role of a chancellor, without being one. He was the Vice Chancellor at the time.

It's 1949*, when the Federal Republic of Germany was founded.

During the Weimar Republic alone, there were 16 Chancellors - more than one per year! Only hardcore history nerds will know all of them. From the top of my head, there's Ebert, Stresemann, Brüning, Papen and Schleicher, the last one before Hitler. Schleicher is easy to remember since it means "crawler" or, figuratively, "brown-noser" in German.

Kinda incredible that there's only been 9. That's like a couple of weeks worth of PMs for Italy.

True, even crazier when you consider that just Kohl and Merkel served 32 (!) years combined. Adenauer also served 14.

Germany has had the same number of Prime Ministers in the past 40 years as the UK has had in the past 6. Way to go Britain.

Although jokes aside, 16 years in power does seem a bit much to me. As flawed as the American political system is, I think having a cap of 10 years (8 in practice) for an executive is a good idea.

Agreed, being in power shouldn't be a lifetime job.
