The Inca empire is often described as ancient, but in fact it was founded in 1438 AD and only lasted a little over 100 years. The beginning of the Inca civilisation only goes back a couple of centuries before that.

@marjobro Guayaquil is a great place, with interesting historical places and museums, parks full of iguanas and turtles, an island nature reserve with crocodiles that you can cycle around on a raised boardwalk... More interesting than Cuenca in my book!
