I would like to argue, as a non American, that I had never heard of San Francisco Bay being called 'The Bay'. I am only suggesting that the clue may not be that accurate.

One nitpick: the U.S. navy was attacked, not a U.S. navy (Gulf of Tonkin question).

Also, the Gulf of Mexico can be called "the Gulf" and Wikipedia even supports this assertion. You should choose a more unique clue.

The Colorado River has rarely ever reached the gulf of California since the 1960s. A bit sad, but maybe you could rephrase that question.

Also, the Gulf of Tonkin question is a bit more dubious. The second attack that brought the US into the war never actually happened.
