You might want to change on of the questions. I guessed Carpathian before I saw the car question, meaning I automatically got that one first

This - plus I don't think it took Carpathian, only "pathian" which I didn't think to try

Actually, just changing the order of the questions would solve the problem.

Yeah, and might want to put the two ethnic group questions next to each other.

For the car question, replace the word 'was" with "were". Grammar is not correct.

Let's stone him. How dare he/she point out the correct grammar when the way that the sentence was originally written sounded perfectly stupid. I mean, who doesn't mixes singular verb with plural subject, and vice versa? What are the big deal?

There’s an obvious reason why Koruna is no longer the currency of this country

Why? Is it because the word 'koruna' is of Czech origin?

According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, koruna is the currency of the Czech Republic, and means 'crown' in Czech.

Isn't it amazing how that word and its various spellings have taken on a new meaning?

Same root. Both from the Latin corona meaning crown. The virus so named because it appears under magnification to be surrounded by a crown or halo.

Carpathians certainly don't cover most of Slovakia. Tatra Mountains do. Carpathians only start in the very easter tip of Slovakia, spaning over Ukraine and Romania.

I'm afraid your per capita castle answer is way off , Slovakia has population of 5.5 million. And roughly 100 castles . Plus manor houses. Whereas Wales has population of slightly more than 3 million and has over 600 castles , AND if was not counting Wales just UK then should of specified ,as most questions involve Scotland somewhere . So if Scotland accepted so is Wales as os england and northen Ireland , .Wales in summing up has half population and 6 times more castles

Since this is a quiz in the COUNTRY quiz category it is implied that we are talking about per capita for countries.

I lived in Slovakia for 9 months drank a lot of beer (Zlaty Bazant) and spirits (Tatratea, Borovicka, Slivovica). The only dish I remember liking a lot was Halusky. Young slovaks are open and most of them speak English, while the older generations are colder. Autumn is beautiful, winter is really cold and dark, spring is full of mosquitos, and summer is perfect. I travelled all around the country, it is filled with beautiful forests, mountains and small villages. Also visited a gypsie borough in Kosice called Lunik IX which was really shocking you should check it out. Dakujem a dovidenia.

Me too, I did a student exchange there 25 years ago. I lived in Nitra but I was able to travel around so I also got to see a bunch of different places, I was extremely lucky. I still remember the place with a great deal of fondness.

Although I have unfortunately lost my fluency with the language, it's weird how you can become so immersed that you have dreams in Slovak and then years later through lack of use need to look up 75 percent of the words you need in a dictionary to write a letter.

1939-1945 Slovakia was not part of Czechoslovakia, firstly because unified Czechoslovakia didnt exist during this time and secondly Slovakia was a member of Axis in WW2 at that time as an independent country

These country quizzes are nothing if not enjoyable, as well as very educational.

I'm not sure ice hockey is still the most popular sport:

But great quiz, nonetheless! The castles answer was a complete surprise to me!
