Woah, this is a list of the biggest cities and towns in New York. Towns are distinctly different from cities, as they comprise multiple townships, or villages, into one area, that are loosely associated with each other. To show this difference, google Brookhaven, and see how largely it is. Clearly not one city. To make it easy for you, I would suggest changing the title to the largest cities and towns in New York state. Else, I would recommend changing the data to include New York's cities, as well as its VILLAGES. No one in the state of New York associates with their town over their village. A resident living in the village of Bronxville in the town of Eastchester would say they live in Bronxville, not Eastchester. Associated processes with cities, like police, sanitation, schooling and administration, are more directly tied to villages than towns. For all intents and purposes, a list of cities in New York is a list of its actual cities, and its villages, not its towns.

Everywhere else in the world, a town is a small city and a village is an even smaller, usually rural town.

Much of these are villages within towns. Like Franklin Square and Elmont are both villages within the Town of Hempstead
