I agree. I managed to type in 201 but didn't get to N America. I don't want a speed-typing test - I want a test of geographical knowledge.

You should accept "Santa Cruz" for Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The inclusion of Timisoara is a bit of a stretch, there are many more important cities I can think of.

15 minutes is still very short. I didn't have time to look through all the clues, even after guessing cities I knew from just the map. To ace the quiz, you'd need to type an answer every 3.6 seconds.

A reasonable enough quiz, with (most) of the hints being fairly useful without being dead giveaways, but I have absolutely no idea what kind of criteria you are supposed to be working with here. Obviously a quiz of this nature is always going to be subjective to some degree, but this one really baffled me.

Why are you including Pretoria when the much larger and more impactful Johannesburg is so close-by (Or Islamabad, for that matter)? Just because it's one of the three capitals? Then why are you including former capital Almaty over Dodoma, Ulaanbaatar, or Naypyidaw? Because of its historical significance? Then why are you including Gaza over Aleppo, Corinth,Timbuktu, Jilin?

For any given reason, it feels like the choices are very odd. For the sum of reasons, and considering other choices, it feels even stranger. Why does Egypt get its third city before Iran's second? Why do Bolivia and Colombia get two each before Yemen gets one? Why does South Africa have more cities than Brazil?

I cannot imagine Timișoara, Bandar Seri Begawan, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, or Windhoek "coming up" more often than Sana'a, Gdansk, Bordeaux, Qom, Chittagong, Porto Alegre, Portland, Quebec City, Lilongwe, Yekaterinburg, Verona, Yerevan, Mogadishu... nor do I think people should or do know them better.

So what exactly *is* the criteria? Just "name these 250 World Cities"? Because it is a very odd list, and one that several times made me go check the hints just because I had no idea *why* a city in that location would be considered one "everyone should know" over a few dozen missing ones. Unfortunately, I did not find an answer for that question, but I'd love to hear one.

Fair enough, many of those are definitely qualified to be on this quiz, but I only wanted to include a certain amount, and on the spreadsheet I had created to make this quiz, every single one you had mentioned was actually on that spreadsheet.

I don't really find anything inherently wrong with the selections because its not a definitive list. I could make a 1000 version one and there would still be a level of subjection no matter what I choose.

So there's no criteria besides the fact that these urban areas are at least recognizable for something or prominent for a large region or nation. As an American in the Pacific Northwest, I will always have a different view on what's prominent or not than someone in one of the many countries in Europe, or China, or South Africa, or even my neighbor.

As long as you learned something that's all that really matters to me.

I'm colourblind. I can't tell if the colour of a city changes when I get a right answer. I assume it does, as that would be very helpful!

Great quiz. Ploughed through for 30 minutes, managed 200 just using the map - only at the end did I realise there were clues below. Might have helped me get one or two more, but the rest I don't think I've heard of. Lots of effort has gone into this, nice one - nominated!

Due to the nature of the quiz there are always going to be some subjectivity in the answers, and the city placements can be a little misleading (especially in Romania and Chennai), but the quiz is honestly really great and my favourite part was reading all the descriptions after I finished the quiz. I love learning more about these cities, they become more and more familiar and less and less mere placenames on the map.

Great job and a nomination from me :)

What's the source for this quiz?

There's a rather large amount of USA and Canadian cities. Do you really think 12% of the most important cities are in the US?

Feels odd when a lot of European countries only have a couple of answers, but much more history. And for somewhere like Luxor or Bamako or Timbuktu or York or Bordeaux or Nagoya or Florence or Busan (etc.) to miss out over Cleveland or Memphis (not even the Egyptian one!) is frankly laughable, sorry.

But I appreciate the effort as a lot of these are interesting clues.

Also should the Cancun clue read "renowned" or am I missing something?

Redirecting to a previously mentioned comment, this is not a definitive list, nor would I include many of these among the most important in the world.

I feel like I jammed in as many European cities as possible without it feeling crowded, more would have been overkill. Say what you want for my selections, everyone has their own takes on what they'd pick. Sure there are a lot of Northern American cities, but many people come from that area that uses JetPunk so I don't find it a big deal.

This quiz aims to give additional information and provide a reasonably easy challenge to JetPunkers and a moderate challenge for people not accustomed to geography.

It always puzzles me that people nit-pick and criticize choices made for a quiz of this nature. You state clearly that it is not "definitive'. (And how would that even be possible?)

I learned a lot from your descriptions. I am nominating it, although I really would have appreciated having more time. I am not a fast typist, and prefer having time to think through a quiz without pressure.

Thank you for a carefully constructed quiz.

"The biggest city in Brunei once was the capital of the Burundian Empire" - was it now?

Other than that, good quiz. Will nominate once I get one back.

I totally agree but if it's not even controlled by their military force, it's hard to say it's still Ukrainian.
