Hi Baltimorean, I was interested to see who you were surprised to see not make the cut in the Top 20 Most Performed Composers; I've had a look at the companion quiz (Composers Performed Most Often) and have come up with interesting info that I've posted to the Top 20 Most Performed Composers comment section. Since you don't see that reply unless you go looking for it, I'll repeat it for you here: Comparing the two quizzes makes interesting reading, The results of Composers Performed Most Often show that we quiztakers collectively expect that the top 20 composers would include six who did not - Bach, Verdi, Chopin, Schubert, Debussy, and Puccini. The corresponding six who we did not expect would be played the most, but actually are, are Mahler, Barber, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Copland. This might be useful information for orchestral program directors. Cheers, Jeremy
