The heptarchy as described here is an oversimplification. There were other kingdoms at times, like Lindsey and Surrey, and not all of these were in existence all the time either.

Well these were the seven major kingdoms, there were smaller independent realms that existed at various points during the heptarchy.

well I had no idea what was even being asked, Once wessex was right, I ended up getting 4. (first tried wales etc, then hibernnia, anglia, cumbria and all sorts of latin names for the region, names of clans like the picts. I really didnt know what you/I was looking for)

I really hope there was a time in history where some combination of Essex, Wessex, and Sussex went to war, and that historians refer to this as "The Battle of the Sexes."

You know that it didn’t happen, though, because Britons have always been into chamberpot humor, so it would’ve actually been named that. According to Blackadder, it’s the basis of the entirety of British culture.
