Date of the referendum where the people chose a new form of government, a republic. Before, this country was a kingdom for 85 years. Although for 20 of those, this country was under a facist rulership.

Celebration of independence from Japan. This country shares this holiday with its northern neighbor.

Gained independence from Portugal, ending over 320 years of colonial ownership.

Declaration of the peoples republic in this country after a lengthy civil war, which was interrupted briefly when this country got attacked in World War 2. The next six days are added to this holiday, making it known as the "golden week".
