Largest U.S. Cities on State Borders

Try to name the largest cities in the United States which lie on a state border.
If there is a water border, there has to be a bridge over it, for example, Yonkers, NY doesn't count because there is no bridge over the Hudson river at Yonkers.
D.C. doesn't count
Based on city proper population and city limit borders

Kansas City, Kansas is #25, so barely doesn't make the cut.

Great quiz! Did you not include Alexandria, VA due to the tip of DC that touches the Beltway as it crosses the Potomac between Virginia and Maryland? That's a messy intersection of borders, but I believe Alexandria's southeast corner also touches Maryland's water border directly.

I was really torn on weather to include it, the rule is that there has to be a bridge, and this really is an edge case, so since the quiz is featured I will make the change and let the Quizmaster decide if he wants to approve it.

Looks like there is a bridge that starts in Alexandria and ends in Maryland. I say it qualifies, even if a part of the middle of the bridge is technically in D.C.

Detroit is on the Michigan border with Canada and there’s a bridge.

Its not a state border, so it doesn't count.

That would make another good quiz. There are enough international border cities, even if you limit it to Canada/USA/Mexico.

Fun quiz! I wish it could be based on MSA (or similar) population rather than city proper so I didn't have to remember the names of suburbs, but I suppose that would make it harder to make border determinations.

Yeah, if I did that I would have to include cities like Atlanta and Sacramento, and that just doesn't feel right.

It said "DC doesn't count" in the heading.

It does say DC doesn't count, but I'm not sure why. Even though Washington, DC, is not in a state, it is a U.S. city that borders two different states. I think it should count.

It's simple. The hint would have to be DC-VA-MD, and people would either get it very easily, or get very confused, neither of which is very helpful.

I thought about Clarksville and rejected it, thinking it wasn't big enough. I should have typed it anyway - I never learn.

When I was making the quiz I was surprised it was that large as well, it has more people in it than Kansas City, Kansas.
