100 people have taken this quiz now and still nobody has gotten the free-tailed bat, white-throated needletail, six-lined racerunner, or patas monkey.

I could accept "bat" for free-tailed bat and "monkey" for patas monkey but I think that would be just a little too easy. hm...

Changed it. Maybe someone will get the right answers now. I don't know how else I could possibly make the needletail or racerunner easier to get... I guess I'll just have to accept those staying at 1%.

Now that I've mentioned the answers in the comments section, some people might see them here and arrive at the answer that way... but you all know... cheetahs never prosper.

I knew the needletail, though I still had to research its English name. If you still want to make it easier, you could accept “swift” as a type-in.

thanks. I'll do that.

I got it! I typed swift. I have heard of the needle tail though. I have a photo of every swift species on my computer. There are hundreds of them.

awesome! :D ::high-five:: though, I think I changed it so that it will accept simply "bat" now. Before you had to type in the whole name.

I tried rabbit, and when it wasn't accepted I didn't try a specific type, since bat, monkey, and mamba all were accepted.

Jackrabbits are much better known than Patas Monkeys, or Free-Tailed Bats. Before I changed it to simply accept monkey and bat both of those answers were close to 0% guessed. And re: black mambas... while technically not all mambas are black mambas there are only four species of mamba and the black is definitely the most famous. Some probably aren't even aware that there are others. So I included it as a type-in.

The fastest riding animal can't be the horse, man. The ostrich can be used as a riding animal. I also know that mooses were used as well in some europeans countries, for exemple by criminals wanting to escape the police because the mooses were faster than the horses. But it's not sure.

Aughhh there's an "e" at the end of "Peregrine." Right. Well, I knew it, just couldn't currently spell it.

You have fastest marine mammal but not fastest marine reptile for the leatherback sea turtle. You just have "fastest reptile" and I was thinking of lizards that can run really fast on land (spiny tailed iguana, komodo dragon, Black Racer snakes, etc.). Maybe you can change it to "fastest marine reptile"?

The leatherback sea turtle is the fastest reptile, period, land sea or air. The six-lined racerunner is the fastest land-based reptile, and so is given the caveat "on land." If you looked at the other clues you should be able to figure out that the fastest reptile is not moving on land.

I guess you *would* have been right if you had chosen a different inconsistency to point out... and that would be in the fastest flying mammal category, not the fastest marine mammal. That's because the free-tailed bat is the fastest mammal on land sea or air. I could eliminate the "flying" caveat from its clue and the quiz would remain the same. But the marine designation for the dolphin is necessary as dolphins are slower than a wide variety of other land/air mammals, in contrast to the sea turtle which moves faster than any reptile.

In addition, sea turtles spend part of their life on land and part in the sea so they are not truly marine animals. They are amphibious.

The answer is Usain Bolt for fastest human. So I'm not sure what you mean, unless you're just questioning the figure for his top speed. I put in 24 mph.

Great quiz! Shocked about the leatherback sea turtle, never would have guessed that a big, bulky turtle would be the fastest reptile.

Since most of the answers are species or even less specific than that, can you accept Homo sapiens for the last question? After all, there used to other human species until we wiped them out with our amazing speed.

According to every source I've seen, the perentie monitor and bearded dragon are considerably faster than the six-lined racerunner. Even a green iguana is a little faster.
