The Colts franchise officially began in 1953, but you can technically trace their DNA all the way back to 1920 as the Dayton Triangles.

1920-21 AFPA: Dayton Triangles

1922-29 NFL: Dayton Triangles

1930-1943: Brooklyn Dodgers

1944: Brooklyn Tigers

1945: Brooklyn/Boston Yanks (Tigers merge with Bos. Yanks due to WWII...4 home games in Bos; 1 in NY)

After the owner of the Tigers stated his intention to jump to the new AAFC for 1946, the Brooklyn NFL franchise was revoked, and the players were assigned to the Boston Yanks.

1946-48:Boston Yanks

Yanks' owner wanted to move to NY. For tax purposes, the Yanks fold and the NFL gives the owner the new NY Bulldogs franchise.

1949: New York Bulldogs

1950-51: New York Yankees

1952: Dallas Texans (franchise given back to NFL with 5 games left)

1953: Baltimore Colts (Colts added using Texans' assets and many of their players)

That was a fun quiz. I scored 12/16. I was stumped by the Lions question -- never known that one. Thanks!
