The desc has a few grammar errors. It should be Can you name the 50 biggest cities that lie on a island?

Almost all of New York is on Long Island, Staten Island, or the island of Manhattan. Hong Kong and Mumbai are also on islands.

Most of Hong Kong is on the Kowloon Peninsula but I agree on NYC

But not Mumbai, which is entirely on the island of Salsette? ;)

There are 1,270,876 on the island of Hong Kong, which doesn't quite make the cut, but when you add the 170,900 people in the Islands District, plus the people on the Lantau Island portion of the Tsuen Wan District, and the people on the other 260 islands, Hong Kong easily makes this list.

"Cities on islands surrounded by rivers dont count"

That takes care of Montreal, but not coastal cities like Mumbai, New York, and Hong Kong. I think what you mean is 50 Biggest Cities of Island Countries. Copenhagen is the only city in this quiz that isn't from an island nation.

I'm not sure if Xiamen would count, as it is not a river island, and the center of the city is on an island, but large portions are on mainland China. But it definitely fits population-wise with 1.847m people.
