How would one differentiate between tone and volume controls? Each guitar is set up differently.

That's the standard layout for a Gibson Les Paul (or copy). I could say that it's that particular model in the description but you can tell just by the shape if you know basic guitars.

Ah, my Les Paul has one volume control and one tone control , with the toggle switch at the bottom right (from the player’s point of view). Nice twist on the ‘map quiz’ format though!

Never heard of the term 'machine heads'. I've always called them tuning pegs. Great quiz though btw
