While I agree that Cyprus by its pure geography is in Asia, but the ethnic groups are divided between Greek and Turkish. As Greece is always considered European, by culture, Cyprus can also be considered European. It is part of UEFA and Eurovision (yes I know Israel is part of both of these and Australia is in the latter but this is for specific reasons).
So, by my judgement, Cyprus is in Europe politically, but Asia geographically.
Please, no-one tell me it's on the African tectonic plate!
Asia. This is a hard question. If you take the capital, Nicosia, and go east a bit on the same latitude, you'll arrive in the Turkish part of Asia, which no one seems to debate about. Looking at the map, it is extremely far away from Europe than it is from Asia. Thus, if somebody thinks it is in Europe, some could debate it is also in Africa since it is in the middle of the longitude between Egypt and Turkey, which can make it both, but latitude-wise, which is also a crucial factor, it is in Asia. Correct! :)
Proximity is meaningless. The islands of the Lesser Antilles are much closer to the mainland of South America than North America, but there's just kind of a rule that the Caribbean is part of North America. One could argue that there's just kind of a rule that the Mediterranean belongs to Europe. Cyprus is the only major island in the Mediterranean that (debateably) isn't part of Europe.
idk what you mean by that. i made this quiz in October of 2019, and yours was made on 30 July 2020. if you're talking about another quiz I made 5 days after yours, I didn't steal it from you, JackintheBox gave me the idea.
If you're merely just bringing the fact that you made a quiz like mine, then, I mean, cool I guess.
The real answer is Eurasia. I don't understand why Europe and Asia are separate continents if they don't have significant separation. Like, since when do mountain ranges separate continents?
Yeah, but there isn't much of a cultural difference between European Russia and Siberia or European Turkey and Anatolia. And if we're looking at different cultural spheres, why not split Asia into different continents for India, China, the Middle East, etc.? The Europe-Asia divide is completely arbitrary and pointless. I'm Team Eurasia all the way.
My opinion: Cyprus is in Europe because if we are anyway making Europe as an arbitrary cultural division, then we should have cultural boundaries, so Cyprus should be in Europe. Besides, islands aren't inherently part of a continent which is why factors such as politics and culture play a larger role in determining the continent than Israel or Armenia which are part of a landmass. I agree that Europe is an artificial continent, ideally there should either be one Eurasia, or a separate India and Arabia as well, but as long as we draw borders for no geographic reason, culture also plays a role, especially in islands.
UN says Cyprus is Western Asia. Cyprus's government itself says they are a European Country. And CIA/USA World Factbook says Cyprus is a transcontinental country and can be considered Asian, European, of both. Everyone is right get over it. CIA World Factbook (also Cyprus's viewpoint) and UN's Standpoint

For the record, he created his quiz on July 29. July 30 is the "last updated" date.

I think that statement should say yes.
