Just a little fact- Akbar is regarded as "great" only because he did not torture and oppress non-muslims unlike the other Mughals.

Which is pretty great for his time. But it might also have to do with the military strength and great expansion of his empire, the flourishing economy, effective administration, diplomatic skills, progressive social reforms, the establishment of a great library, general promotion of education including women, and the sponsoring of artists.
