I don't think cote d'Ivoire should count as a three word country. contractions are single words. like the word "don't" is one word and "do not" is two words. in French this will never be separated into two words, if the next word starts will a vowel, it's always " d' " even when it's translated it's not a three word country. "Ivory Coast" is the English name.

I 've thought about it too, and decided that, given that the commonly accepted name is the french one, that should count. 'D'' is a french word and it means "of", so i count it as one.

"De" does mean "of", yes, but as I explained before a contraction is a single word. so it's still not a three word country
