Countries with a US Military Base (according to wikipedia)

To construct the list I only used wikipedia. This eliminated several answers previously on this list. Ron Paul, Mother Jones and a host of other people or groups claim the US is in at least 100 countries with some 900 bases. They included any country with at least one US solider and/or some sort of building. I will make a separate quiz based on the DoD Base Structure Report listing all countries in which the US military owns a structure greater than 10,000 sq feet

Good point. I suppose I should add a comment, foreign bases only, but its kind of obvious once you try USA and it doesn't work.

Cool quiz. More comprehensive than the quiz that was featured before. Is the US really 100% out of Iraq now? I guess State Dept staff doesn't count, though a lot of US embassies around the world are practically small military bases.

Official the last soldier left in December 2011. Of course, the US embassy in Baghdad is one of the world's largest and has at least 160 marines. In addition, there are thousands of personnel and consultants attached to the embassy and consulates. I'm sure some of them are not there to type.

What about Iceland? Keflavik has been handed over to Iceland, but there's Grindavik, a Naval Radio Transmitter Facility staffed by N62 Division.

Not all countries with a US military presence is included. As I stated in the introductory comments I used wikipedia and a US military list -- they only listed countries with a "base"; the definition of which is open to question. Neither included Iceland. If I went with Ron Paul and/or Mother Jones I would have over a hundred nations including Iceland.

The Netherlands is composed of several provinces including North and South Holland. My Frisian relatives (Friesland is another province with its own language and culture separate from Holland) would subject you to an hour long lecture on the difference.

The quiz is four years old. I'm going to have to update it soon -- the US has downsized their overseas commitment.

You should have included the Netherlands. There are US "Forward Operating Locations" in Aruba and Curacao, both countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
