Cool quiz! Upset I missed Théoden, I must have spelled it wrong.

I thought the name was spelled Sauramon. I guess I confused Saruman with Sauron.

I'd say that "Balrog" or "Durin's Bane" is mentioned more thatn 24 times in the books. If Shadowfax or Shelob ar included, he should be too.

But it is not the name of a character, it is a type of creature, a race, like elf or dragon.

The Balrog of the Moria doesn't have a specific name.

Except that it does. Durin's Bane is its name.

Also, in reality they aren't a different race as they are maiar just like Gandalf and Sauron.

Lobelia always gets a miss in these quizzes, but I assure you - she was ALWAYS in the back of Bilbo's mind!

Hah, I love how Bill the Pony made it.

No Bullroarer Took though? I swear he was mentioned a LOT in the beginning.

So Tom Bombadil was mentioned by name 143 times? I bet at least 130 of them were him referring to himself in the 3rd person on average once per sentence.

With the Appendices included, I'm kind of surprised Al-Phazaron didn't make the cut. He wasn't in the main series, but was probably the most mentioned Numenorean in the Appendices, between the defeat of Sauron and the attempted attack on Valinor and subsequent destruction of Numenor
