Its status as an observer state by the UN does not make it a country. It doesn't matter what your politics are, or what you believe. Until the UN recognizes Palestine as a full member state, then it is not a country.
I think the issue of Palestine is not clear enough to be considered on this or any quiz as a country.
Country does not always mean sovereign country or nation-state. For example, the constituent countries of the United Kingdom are still "countries," albeit not in the sense that the countries on the Countries of the World Quiz are countries. And in this case, it would be more accurate to call Palestine a poorly defined and amorphous group of non-contiguous non-sovereign disputed territories with a contested, fragmented, partially-recognized government that enjoys observer status at the UN; but "country" fits better in the box.
Fair comment, and actually quite amusing. When the constituent countries of the UK are the answer, the question is usually within inverted commas ("country", or 'country'). Perhaps that would be a suitable compromise?
I tried to look up the Plymouth Rock thing, but apparently the only famous thing with that name on danish websites is a breed of chicken. To be fair they seem more interesting than the picture of that rock...
Yeah, I'd be interested to see why you think it's not a country and if you feel as strongly about other 'countries' in these quizzes. Palestine is recognised as a country by the majority of other countries, does that not make it a country? No one seems to care that Taiwan calls itself a country, except the Chinese of course.
Perhaps you are aware of it and left it because otherwise the percentage would be too low? (54% atm, and 24% seems more realistic or even lower than that) But the answer is shown in the last picture.
I swear, the people on this sight are smart enough to get these insane questions, but aren't smart enough to use ctrl + f to look for what they are writing an angry comment on this quiz about
Whether or not Palestine is a country or not, it takes balls to include it here. Is it a country or not? The answer is, without a doubt, yes. And no.
Similarly, is Israel a country? The answer is also, without a doubt, yes. And no.
The point is, it depends on the person, and this, quite frankly, annoying, argument will keep on going as long as both locations exist. So please stop arguing about something that has been going on for at least 80 years by this point. All you need to know about Palestine or Israel is what you believe in.
Not so fast my friend. Palestine is recognized by 138 members of the UN. That is more than 2/3 of nations in that body... considerably more than a bare majority. And although Israel is recognized by more, there are several that do not recognize Israel. There is no call to use such charged, insulting terms just because someone does not share your views.
For the other quizzes, non-UN member states have ready "country" in speech marks.
Wikipedia calls it a "state" so I feel this should be the description.

(sorry that was rude)

To state that Israel may not be a country is antisemitic.
