I was definitely intimidated by the W at first, thinking it's a weird letter and therefore I wouldn't do well. Then I actually got to the quiz and it was pretty easy.

In Windhoek stans the "Tintenpalast" (Ink palace), best name for a parliament at all. That makes it worth remembering :)
+1
Level 65
Mar 23, 2020
Yes, but to clarify Tintenpalast is a German word, the Afrikaans translation would be inkpaleis. I looked it up because I thought, huh tint, ink? Wouldn't it be simply tint in English (or shade, colour, teint, tan of hue.)

Untill now I wasn't aware the German word for ink was Tinte, they are quite a few of those sneaky quite but not close words in languages from the same families (well atleast the germanic languages). Confusing but interesting.

I remember when I was at my dad's and he had german guests with a dog. And I learned in german dogs "bellen" (bark) which in dutch means making a phonecall.. I found it quite amusing :)

I was well aware if the status of Windhoek long before I had ever come across jetpunk. Not sure whether I knew it before I learnt Dutch, but that does make it stick in the mind.
