I thought that as well, but looking at the map, even though Tonga is further south, the part of Antarctica due south of Vanuatu juts northward, making it closer. Very tricky!

But The Falklands are also claimed by Argentina, same as the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. So Wouldn't this be a Catch-22 Situation?

The Falkland Islands are part of the UK. They have never been part of Argentina for any period of time in history. No that is not a valid reason.

I think your Chile figure is off. Measuring on Google Maps I can find points where Isla Navarino, Chile is about 1025 km from the Antarctic mainland.

Maybe France should been included. I Think Reunion is an integrated part of France, not a possession.
