I would like to see the source for these stats - no way that Taylor is less common than a lot of these

Remember we're looking for everyone's names, not baby names, and in 1990 Taylor was pretty unusual, and even more common amongst men than women. For the record, the 1990 ranks of Taylor were 422 (male) behind Tommy, Tim, Tyler, Ted, Tyrone, Tracy, Terrance and Terrence, and 805 (female) behind Tara, Terri, Tamara, Tanya, Terry, Tracey, Toni, Traci, Teri, Tricia, Tasha, Tabitha, Tami, Tammie, Trina, Trisha, Tracie, Therese, Tamika, Trudy, Tonia, Terrie, Tia, Tania and Tommie. Since then it's become a much more common baby name (in 2000 Taylor was the most popular female baby name starting with T), so I suspect if we had a more recent database for all names, then Taylor probably would appear as an answer.
