Mightythor is the inspiration for this quiz. He says "I like these ones that name places I've never heard of and I have to guess where it is by filling in capitals and seeing what hits and how far." OK then, which national capital cities are closest to Grytviken?
Jerry - just a polite nitpick, but as others have said, since this quiz asks about capitals rather than countries, would it not be more accurate to have each capital of South Africa and Bolivia as separate answers rather than type-ins?
Not a nit-pick at all, that's a very fair point! I did think of doing it that way, but ended up kinda copying the template that the World Capitals quiz uses, which is to load up all capitals for each country into one answer, and giving you the point if you name any one of them.
My first try was oslo and 2nd reykjavik. It sounded scandinavian to me (something like great borough), but when nothing scandinavian hit, I moved to south africa because it really looks to be a germanic language. I am bad at african capitals though... so I couldnt only think if a few and not many were hit, so I was stuck, didnt cross my mind to cross the ocean. Well I actually thought it was a bit away from the mainland, looking at the distances aswell, but still didnt think of naming anything non african.
I was right about the name being scandinavian, it means grit/gravel inlet/bay. (Im not sure if there is difference in english between inlet and bay, so used both)
I managed to get 100% through simply guessing all the African coast capitals until I got the few I was missing.
