there was actually a 5-way tie for -300,000 due to imprecise information and estimations. I left out Ethiopia and Guinea to keep the quiz balanced.

cool quiz. I was going to do pretty much the exact same one myself, or something similar, never got around to it.

Never would have guessed Burundi at in the top 20 for net positive migration. Or at least not before I had guessed pretty much every other country in the world excluding maybe the pacific island ones.

Apparently Burundi just went through a series of civil wars that mostly ended around 2006 to 2008. It is now in a reconstruction period with thousands of refugees returning from Rwanda and DRC.

must have been hundreds of thousands not just thousands. and they must have all settled by now since Burundi doesn't show up on the 2013 quiz I made.

I made two similar quizzes. One for immigration and one for emigration, but calculated in terms of how many immigrants or emigrants each country has vs their population. Also, based on 2013 figures (estimates) instead of 2008-2012.

I can understand Burundi, but Liberia? I also heard that 92 percent of the people in Liberia's capital don't believe ebola exists.

I think I tried Cote d'Ivoire, but I'm not sure. It is/should be accepted as Ivory Coast.
