Pretty easy but I missed the MLK memorial. Never actually seen it.

it's really quite beautiful. You should definitely check it out next time you visit Washington DC.

I couldn't as they had shut down access to the tidal basin during cherry blossom season due to coronavirus.

Great quiz! Would have been tough if I hadn't spent a year there.

Why doesn't "Roosevelt" work when just last names for other memorials do?

"Roosevelt" should work now.

I nominate this for a star, even though as an out-of Washington out-of-USA out-of-the-Americas quizzer it's heinously difficult. But it's educational, and a real work of art too - nice job.

Great quiz, except for the major omissions of the National Museum of African-American History, the National Museum of African Art, and the Hirshhorn (all are also Smithsonian museums, so there are no reasons for leaving these out if the others are included).

I definitely get that. I especially didn't like leaving out the African-American history, American Indian, and Holocaust museums. At some point, I have to draw the line before the quiz becomes impossible. I may still make some changes, though. Thanks!

the NMoAAH is such an eyesore and ruins the view across the Mall from many places.

That's the World War II memorial

Are you trying to be funny? You think the WW2 memorial is more poorly designed, less aesthetically pleasing, or more poorly placed than that museum? Ugh.
+5
Level 74

I agree the black museum is extremely ugly. Why it was not designed like the others so it fit in is beyond me. The WW2 monument is beautiful and fits in.

Even if you do think that the WW2 memorial is ugly, its height has nothing on the National Museum of African-American History and is thus much less of an eyesore.

I don't think it's that bad. I think the architectural design itself is nice, and while I'll contend that it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the Mall, that doesn't bother me much.

I don't think I've ever actually visited the National Gallery of Art, but if "Air and Space", "American History", and "Natural History" work, then shouldn't "Art" also work?

Nice! Unfortunately, you left out the George Mason Memorial, tucked away along the tidal basin not far from the Jefferson Memorial. It is a simple and attractive location that one stumbles upon by accident unless one happens to be a fan of Mason's,

"a man of the first order of wisdom among those who acted on the theatre of the revolution, of expansive mind, profound judgment, cogent in argument (Jefferson)."

This is excellent! FWIW, my favorite landmark is the Einstein Memorial, on Constitution right in front of the National Academy of Sciences, and just a short walk NE of the Lincoln Memorial. Beautiful statue with wonderful quotes.

If we're talking about Smithsonian omissions shouldn't we also add the Folger Smithsonian Library too?
+2
Level 55

I agree you need to check the type-ins and expand it IMO. I think I wrote World War two memorial and it rejected it. Smithsonian really should work for all of them in that cluster; at least I as a native have always lumped them together that way. I wrote King memorial and rejected. Most clues here in Jetpunk tend to accept partial or general answers vs. precise names.

When you try typing in Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial you will get the National Gallery of Art because 'Martin' includes the word 'art' could you make it so that when you you are trying to type in Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial you won't get the National Gallery of Art for free
