Are camels just not common in Iran for some reason?

Kinda surprised Egypt and Iran don't make it. They seem to be surrounded by very camel-ly places.

I felt the same. Come on Egypt! Step up your camel game!

Egypt was my first guess, big surprise that it wasn't there!

Australia has 300,000, according to Wikipedia.

I thought the Middle East actually imports their camels from Australia???

They are camelids, but not camels.

Egypt and Israel both surprised me. I would think the Bedouins there would have many more camels than they apparently do.

Chad has a human population of 16M (estimated), and a camel population of 8M, that's a lot of camels per capita!

The only quiz I can remember where Chad is #1.

Egypt is the first country that comes to mind when I think camels. And Saudi Arabia. Surprised to see them low or not even on the list

Interesting quiz, good concept. Expected to see Kazakhstan on the list but think it just missed out. How many (if any?) of these countries in the list are based on a majority of bactrian (two humps) camels?

The two-humped ones are easier to ride -- you ride between the humps. Btw in Somaliland, I had quite a good camel pizza.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that 74% of quiz takers correctly identified "Eritrea" as a nation with a high camel population, without Google. In fact, I wouldn't believe that 74% would identify Eritrea as an African nation without Google. Remember, y'all, when you cheat, you're only cheating yourself.

Eritrea is the only one I missed, but I can definitely identify it as an African nation (and on a map) without Google! Keep in mind, Jetpunk users are not indicative of the general population. A large percentage of users can ace the countries of the world quiz, and then end up doing a lot of other geography quizzes. So on a quiz like this, when you know the general part of the world you're going for, it's not hard to figure it out.

I just listed countries in the middle east and north africa, so eritrea and djibouti were both among my guesses. I imagine more than 74% of regular Jetpunk users can name all the countries in the world, let alone Africa.

@Icelemontea 74% of jetpunkers definitely cannot ace the countries of the world quiz

I tried Eritrea and Djibouti but forgot Ethiopia and Tunisia. Once you learn all the countries some stick out in your mind more than others. I do believe most of the regular quiz takers on here know Eritrea.

Jetpunk isn't indicative of the normal population. Almost everyone on here is at least above average in terms of geographical knowledge. Eritrea isn't far away from other countries on this list.

Eritrea has a friggin Camel in its emblem (it's true, look it up). Hard to miss that one in a camel contest!

personally i guessed eritrea as i was going through the sahel nations, as they all traditionally travel by camel, also when someone guess somalia and ethiopia the next viable guess would be ethiopia. someones a little bit salty they didnt indentify a certian caeml nation
