We take no official position on Orban or Soros. This quiz is objectively accurate. Orban has been accused of undermining democracy. Has he done it? Do your own research and decide. Political debate threads will be deleted. References to American politicians will be extra deleted.

Fun fact: Jewish refugees from Hungary who emigrated to the United States in the years before WWII, such as John Von Neumann, were jokingly referred to as "Martians" due to their humorous accents and seemingly superhuman intellectual abilities.

Fun fact: Vigo the Carpathian died in the year 1610 at the age of 105 when his subjects rebelled; leading Vigo to be poisoned, shot, stabbed, hung, stretched, disembowled, and finally drawn and quartered. Following his decapitation, his head issued a final prophesy before dying: "Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back.".

“Hungaria” should be changed to “Hungary” because this quiz is in English, and a grammar mistake in “name after” should be changed to “named after”.

If we concider the summer olympics medal standing, Hungary is still number one in soccer (football) so you could call it dominating :) (not taken into considaration the medals for the woman soccer turnaments where the USA is dominating).

Just a fun fact.

Forgot Neumann was Hungarian, so for the brilliant Hungarian-American mathematician I just wanted to write Paul Erdős. Sure, his name isn't "John von ..." but he fits the rest of the clue just as well as Neumann.

Didn't do so well here. I'm afraid my trusted Hungarian phrasebook has given me a completely different name for that stew. Last time I tried using that word at a Hungarian restaurant, I was chased out by the owner, who demanded that his hovercraft was 'full of eels'.

My first thought was gulyas but that didn't work - I think it should, though. My mom used to mix cooked macaroni, ground beef, onions, and tomatoes together and call it goulash .Pretty far from the real thing but we ate it.

From '52-'72 Hungary also dominated football at the summer Olympics, winning gold 3x and only failing to medal once in those years. A feat unmatched in all of Olympics men's football history, and only surpassed by the American women's team.

The mountain range referred to: it seems the only name accepted is Carpathain. In most sources, including the Wikipedia article on Hungary, the range within Hungary is referred to as the North Hungarian Mountains. "Carpathians" is not mentioned there. The article on the Carpathians breaks down to an article on the Western Carpathians, where it states that the part in Hungary is the North Hungarian Mountains. I suggest North Hungarian Mountains be added as a valid alternate name.
