Can you find the 20 countries whose Capital City lies furthest North compared to its Geographical Center? "Relatively" in the sense that the area of the country is taken in consideration.
Data from Portland State University (https://www.pdx.edu/econ/country-geography-data), for missing countries from CIA (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2011.html)
Island Countries are excluded
D = distance travelling North from Country Centroid to Capital City, R = radius of circle with same size as country
See notes: island countries are not included (since for them it's too easy to get high values, like Equatorial Guinea, although this doesn't apply to single islands like Taiwan) - maybe I should underline that note or something?
Nice quiz ! My first idea was to think about countries that are bordered by the sea in the north (as capitals are often seaports) - this logic produced 9 out of the 20. BTW, I guess South Africa makes the list if Pretoria is taken as the capital but not with either Bloemfontein or Capetown.
Brazil doesn't make it in the top 20!
