Aren't the Maldives the flattest country in the world?

yeah... the criteria used here is really confusing and hard to figure out. The Maldives I think has no land more than 3 m above sea level, something shocking like that- but because they are small they don't make the rankings? I still don't quite get it.

Yeah, this quiz idea's really interesting but I'm wondering about the calculation here too. A tiny country that is completely flat would have area rank 196 and height span 196, so it would have a score of zero and would not appear as an answer, even if its the flattest! Maybe try dividing the actual amounts, rather than subtracting the ranks?

I think I used this calculation because the more correct one I had used (I don't remember which one it was, it may well have been the division you suggested) wasn't giving "interesting" answers. Thanks for your comment, guess maybe the title should be 'flattest wrt area' or something!

I'm really confused by this quiz... No idea what the numbers mean, no idea how you actually made calculations... Further explanation or clarification is needed for anyone to have any hope with this quiz.

In short: Love the concept, a bit shaky in implementation.

I tried explaining in the notes. It's not a very 'mathematical' calculation because it's based on the country rankings. So for example Bhutan is a small country (133th largest country in the world) but with a high height span (5th greatest height span in the world). The difference in the two rankings is 128, highest than any other country in the world. This makes it the least flat country of all, as far as this quiz is concerned. Similarly, Mauritania is a large country but with a small height span, making it the flattest country.
