Auckland? There's 1.4 million here, and it's a mighty long way to the nearest one (probably Sydney)

Auckland has 417,910 inhabitants according to the data I used. Unfortunately I don't know where to find a good list of cities with population and coordinates!

Since I live here, I can promise you that the 400,000 figure is just bonkers (unless you're using populations in 1950)

I'm sure it's as you say.

I tried having a look at the data, so it has these three different locations next to each other (similar latitude and longitude):

Auckland 417,910

North Shore 207,865

Waitakere 166,237

so perhaps these should all really count towards Auckland? Either way it'd be too hard to find and correct all mistakes in the data... I'll probably just make a few more quizzes based on it anyway.

Auckland, North Shore, Waitakere and 4 other cities were amalgamated into a single city, Auckland, population 1.5 million, on 1 November 2010.

I got every city except Chicago. I spent 1 whole minute figuring out which city it would be (kept on guessing boston, ny, montreal, winnipeg etc.), and I forgot about the city where I lived in:(
