All Countries by Area with letter hints as you go along: 6 Minute Sprint
List all world countries in order of size. At the end of each answer you are shown the initial of the following one.
Every time you guess an answer, you will be shown one letter from each of the 4 answers below (the 2nd letter of the answer below, the 3rd of the answer 2 places below etc). This means that reading 'diagonally' (going up-right, starting from the answer above the one you're looking for) letters of the same colour as the rank number you'll be able to get a good hint (but not the initial letter!).

Very nice quiz! But isn't that 6-minute target a bit too tough - 1.8 secs per country? That is more like a typing contest than a geo quiz. Even the original 'Countries of the World' quiz gives you 15 minutes for the task, and there you do not have to worry about the order of the answers.
I'd say timing is tough but not a typing contest - if on average a country is a word, the required speed is 33 words per minute. I have seen 5-4-3-2-1 minute sprint versions of 'countries of the world'. My idea is that if you get stuck on answer for too long, you can then try the quiz again and you'll be faster if this time you remember it. Anyway I'll see if other quizzers say they'd prefer more time and in case I'll increase it. Thanks for your comment.
this is what I wrote in the cell next to 'Russia' (mind you, I prepared everything in an Excel file so all I had to do manually was change from 'answer component' to 'hidden answer component ') - you will have to replace # with the 'smaller than' sign) - #span style="background:black;color:white;font-family:Courier">a #span style="background:red;color:white;font-family:Courier">i #span style="background:brown;color:white;font-family:Courier">t #span style="background:darkgreen;color:white;font-family:Courier">i
About two minutes more would be fine. In other quizes I can type all countries in about 6-7 minutes, but then I dont need to think. This is way to hard.
