That and Jacob could easily have had other daughters that they didn't feel important enough to list in the Bible. The only reason Dinah is important is that her rape sparks feuding with the Canaanites. Without that unfortunateness, she may not have even been included in the numbers. There's no telling how many women are lurking in the background of the Bible--they're only mentioned when they're being used as a lesson, and they're rarely named (named ones are especially good, especially bad, or in this case, especially unfortunate).

And still women have much bigger role in the Bible than in most of literature from same era. Example the main witness of the Jesus empty tomb are women - which is quite revolutionary.

Proof that the ressurection happened, no one in that time would have made up a story where women were the only witnesses as they were not considered valid sources for information at that time

Me, too. I didn't notice there were 13 and was just trying to name the 12 sons, had a blank and was like, argh, who am I forgetting? LOL.

That could have been a writer's conscious attempt to insinuate the importance of Mary Magdalene to Jesus, without disobeying papal

dictum. As you say, women were seldom celebrated in that era,

why the emphasis on Mary Magdalene in several scriptures?

Wouldn't be able to do this without the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat song...

Jacob! Jacob and Sons!
