Very fun, and easier than expected with so many long answers. The abbreviation seems unnecessary, as there're plenty of longer options left in the grid: rain, train, grin, grit, rent, rant...

Glad you had fun! Well, the answers need to be geography-related: grin, grit, rent and rant don't really apply. Rain and Train could be used with clues that give them geographical context, but even then they are a bit of a stretch. The abbreviation provides some nice variety, and not everyone's getting it, so it's not like it's an easy freebie for everybody.

I agree that a two letter abbreviation is a very weak question. I'd suggest the queen of Jordan, perhaps, pat anything else would be better than "TN".

Tiran perhaps?. It is the name of several geographical places (Tiran). Not a freebie either, because not super well known. And In my opinion more interesting and educational than an abbreviation.

It would certainly be a freebie before anyone could finish typing the capital of Albania.

Tanger should be accepted as an equivalent of Tangier. I am saying that as someone currently in Morocco, so I know what I am talking about.

Only reason I got "tarn" is because I missed it on a quiz the other day. I guess it was recent enough for me to dredge it up. Thanks Jetpunk!

I got that one because of hundreds of geography lessons about glacial landforms.

Damn, I got everything except the 9 letter word. I had all the others with over 2 minutes to go and and was racking my brains but still didn't get it. I couldn't get tangerine out of my head.

Surprising that the California tree question is so high when they literally only can be found in California.

I was happy to find president Ulyssses S. Grant in the quiz until I typed it in and the answer didn't work! Quite pleasing how Reagan and Regina can be found in the grid.

Thanks to BrBa for giving me the New Hampshire answer, maybe this shouldn't use the acronym as NH is ambiguous outside of USA circles.
