Countries named after a person

Enter the usual English names of all sovereign countries named after an individual historical or religious figure or a family. The country's name can refer to the person either directly (like the US state Louisiana, named after the French King Louis XIV), or indirectly (like the US state Virginia, named after the English "Virgin Queen" Elizabeth I). N.B.: Some of the hints are intentionally tricky (but all are factually correct). The quiz includes also countries named after a thing/fact/notion which in turn was named after a person. Some of the etymologies are disputed, in such cases this quiz reflects the most common/obvious interpretation. Country name whose etymologies were invented retrospectively (such as Italy being named after Odysseus' grandson Italus) are not included.
