Contemplating the Mysteries of the World - Part 15: Legos (I guess)

+3

So... Legos I guess?

I guess I am going to rant about... Legos. I am not exactly sure what there is to rant about, but if anyone can over complicate and over analyze something so simple, I think that I am up to the challenge.

So... I guess Legos are kinda weird. Small bricks in various shapes, sizes, colors, and sizes that are used to construct buildings of different shapes, sizes, colors, and sizes. Sort of an interesting concept. One can tap into their inner creativity, or just follow directions. Actually, the fact that there are sets that you are meant to follow along with exactly almost seems counterproductive. Something meant to inspire creativity and imagination becomes structured and limited. Then again, isn't that what society does to most things? Makes them less than what they were meant to be, it is really sad if you stop to think about it. Why is it that I always think about this like this? I wish I knew.

I also find it interesting that building Legos is so addicting. I once spent 8 hours straight building a giant Minecraft set, and then another 7 hours the next day. The fact that someone could spent so much time on something so simple and repetitive baffles me. It is honestly worrying that society has become so boring and bland that something like that has almost become commonplace. What does that say about our lives? I think it says that we are repetitive and boring creatures who are simply looking for any way to entertain ourselves, and I guess that is also the reason that I wrote this incredibly short and dull blog.

I would apologize for this ridiculous excuse for a blog and how short it is, but that would mean I would need to actually care. I was bored and just wanted something to do, and obviously I don't have any Legos sitting around. So, I give you probably the weirdest and most random thing that I have written in a long time. I guess I am done ranting about a Danish toy... and the problems with society at the same time.

Also, I should add that I have never seen The Lego Movie Series, and I have no opinion if it surprisingly. Movies are one of those things I try not to have opinions of until I see them. Hey look, I am off topic again.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Rosie.

Lol i personally think legos are pretty cool, even if i find them boring at the same time. It’s takes some ingenuity to figure out how to design super elaborate stuff like spaceships and museums.

Thanks for doing my suggestion. Legos are mirroring society, how interesting.

Why do people call them "Legos" ?

Lego is a trade name and the items are bricks, so surely it should be Lego Bricks as a plural not Legos. Or even just call them bricks. Saying Legos just makes me think there are more than one Lego company.

Sorry for the rant, it's just something that bothers me for some unknown reason. Like when someone says "off of" when talking about some celebrity from the TV. "Oh yeah they're off of the TV" NO They're not they are off the TV or are from the TV not "Off Of" grrrr..

Thank you for putting that lovely complaint in my brain, so it can bother me for the next 48 hours. Now that I realize, I will never be able to forget it.

I just tell myself that language is created by humans, so language is what humans make it.

If someone says “Legos”, you still know exactly what they mean, so in terms of communication, language’s only purpose, it is perfect. It doesn’t matter if it’s grammatically or socially correct as long as people know what you mean.

Same goes for “could care less”. I hate when people get mad at people for using “could care less” instead of “couldn’t care less”. Yes, “couldn’t” is technically correct, but the fact that you are correcting me implies that you know what I meant, in which case, why correct me? It did its only purpose: to communicate.

This reply isn’t directed towards you btw, I just see stuff like it a lot and think I have an interesting take. Rant over lol.

I'm sorry that you misunderstood me, it wasn't a complaint about you specifically. I agree with squidpsyco in that I knew exactly what you meant by "Legos" it's just one of those things that bother me.

Keep up the great work, I like your ranting blogs!
