Here are some facts about my home state.

- Ohio gets its name from the Iroquois word "ohi-yo" meaning "Great River"

- Ohio didn't officially become a state until 1953.

- The movie "Shawshank Redemption" was shot in the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield.

- The Cincinnati Red Stockings were the first ever professional baseball team in America.

- The Cuyahoga river has caught fire at least 15 times due to pollution.

- Ohio is tied with Virginia for most presidents born in the state.

Apparently, due to an oversight it wasn't official until 1953. It wasn't a formal declaration when Jefferson granted statehood.

Virginia was one of the most influential states at the beginning of US history, of the first 12 presidents, 7 were from virginia. Idk about Ohio
