Hello dear JetPunkers!
Exactly a month ago, NiobiumVoid won the third WITJ, and it's now really time to read his answers about his JetPunk adventure and his feelings. I hope, and I'm sure you will appreciate it.
Before starting, excuse me for the late on the publishment of this blog but (as always), I was very busy with school, and also big projects of quizzes (and I haven't finished most of them yet...).
Last note: for the interview, after the 10th one, I've decided to add some questions to the list of classic questions, that I ask to all interviewee. Before, I asked to my victim around 12 questions, excepting the huge Stewart interview (but you sometimes read less because they didn't want to answer all of them), and now it will be around 15. I hope you will like this little change.
baptistegorce: Hi Nio, sorry, I'm very late... You won the WITJ around two weeks ago... Congratulations!
NiobiumVoid: No problem Poirot. And thank you!
baptistegorce: Thanks... So let’s start this interview! First, could you present yourself on JetPunk quickly for our readers who don’t know you?
NiobiumVoid: Hello, I'm NiobiumVoid. I'm 14 and from the UK, and I have had a Jetpunk account since 2019. I revisited the site during lockdown, learning how to make quizzes and joining the Discord server.
baptistegorce: At the writing of this blog, you are in the top 3000 quizzers. Do you think it’s easy to become a “famous” quizmaker? Do you think SVG maps are a vector of popularity on JetPunk?
NiobiumVoid: No, I wouldn't say it is. It takes a while just to learn how to make a decent quality quiz, and coming up with original ideas that aren't too niche is difficult. Learning how to make SVG maps does help, but that is another skill that takes a long time to master.
baptistegorce: What is your own quiz you are the most proud of?
NiobiumVoid: This may sound like a strange choice, but the quiz I am most proud of is 'The Simpsons Episodes'. At the time, I was new to the spreadsheet software I was using, so I copied all of the answers manually. Although this did take way too long, I payed more attention to typeins, etc... because of it.
baptistegorce: You live in the United Kingdom, the country with the most JetPunkers. What do you think about it? Do you know people in real life who uses JetPunk?
NiobiumVoid: I don't really have that much of an opinion on it, but it is nice having a large community. I don't know anyone IRL that uses it unfortunately, although I have tried convincing people.
baptistegorce: Do you have big projects of quizzes in preparation?
NiobiumVoid: I do have one, but I'm not sure if I have the motivation to finish it.
baptistegorce: You are also a blogger. Will you continue to write blogs?
NiobiumVoid: Yep, but I don't have any planned at the moment.
baptistegorce: What do you think about the blogging community? Are there differences between this one and the quizzing one?
NiobiumVoid: Eh, I have mixed feelings about the blog community. On the one hand, it can become very spammy, but good blogs are fairly common. However, I feel like quizzes are too big a part of the site to have a separate community.
baptistegorce: What is the most important event in your own life of JetPunker?
NiobiumVoid: Probably joining the Discord server. The people I have met there changed my life for the better, and I have also learnt a great deal about quiz making there.
baptistegorce: If you had to resume your JetPunk adventure in one word, what would it be?
NiobiumVoid: Err... I'm not really sure. I suppose the word 'fun' covers all bases.
baptistegorce: If you had to choose just three JetPunker for their quizzes, who will it be?
NiobiumVoid: Err, it's so hard to pick three, but here goes. Firstly, I will choose SWATkun. They have made many great metro maps, and I feel like they are an underrated user. Secondly, I will pick elijahwade. Another great maker of SVGs (have you noticed a theme?), and I particularly like their 'Scottish Interest' series. And last, but by no means least, Stewart. They have made many creative SVG quizzes, and whilst I can't really say they are underrated, their quizzes are still original and fun to play.
baptistegorce: And for their blogs?
NiobiumVoid: Firstly, HelveticaBold, for their informational blogs that focus on subjects I wouldn't otherwise read about. Kesuko, for their travel blogs showing the diversity of the U.S. National Parks. And finally Malkiboy, for their ever improving fictional blogs.
baptistegorce: What are your passions in life, except JetPunk?
NiobiumVoid: I like hiking and cycling, but unfortunately they aren't really possible to do during lockdown. So most of what I do is playing video games, mainly EU4, HOI4 and ETS2.
baptistegorce: You are in the JetPunk Discord server. Is it a good experience? Why?
NiobiumVoid: As I said above, the Jetpunk Discord is a great experience, and I would definitely recommend joining if you haven't already. I have met some of the nicest people there, and I am ever glad that I joined.
baptistegorce: What do you hope for JetPunk development in the next months?
NiobiumVoid: I'd like to see the blog update when it is released, but apart from that, I don't really know. The site is pretty good at the moment, thanks to the major updates last and this year from Dan and Stewart.
baptistegorce: Do you have a message to pass to the whole JetPunk community (or at least to the few users reading these blogs…)?
NiobiumVoid: My advice is to stop worrying about things like takes so much. You will only disappoint yourself, and will end up making quizzes in quantity over quality. I find that it is more satisfying finishing a very large project after putting in loads of effort, or the feeling of someone saying that they had been looking for a quiz like this.
baptistegorce: The interview now ends, on this very clever advice. It was a pleasure! Thanks Nio!
NiobiumVoid: You're welcome! It was a pleasure for me too.
I hope you enjoyed your reading. I think that Nio is "more famous" than the previous WITJ winner, so maybe you prefered it.
I have many ideas for the next interviewee, but I'll have to choose... But I'm sure it will be a JetPunker you like!
Thank again for reading, and have a nice day!
P.S.: Many of you contacted me by collaborating quizzes. It's not that I don't want to talk with you, but I prefer a JetPunk comment, or at least a Discord message. I've many quizzes to create (because I'm a quizmaker before being a blogger...) and it makes a mess in my tens of unsubmitted quizzes... Thanks for understanding!
Thanks?
And I was actually very surprised when I discovered that there were quizzes about my blogs. It made me both confused and happy.
And I was slower than you, for this interview...
Someone convince Baptiste for not become bored? Lol
What does WITJ stand for?
It means "Who is this JetPunker?", and it's the name of an other of my blog series, which I sometimes use to select the next interviewee.
But next time I'll choose the interviewee without "democracy", sorry...
You can consult these three blogs on my blogger profile.
Thanks a lot for the support!
Really soon, I don't know, but I'll try to be less late than for the this one...
(Just I felt a “drop a hint” in the finish?)
Make sure other users collaborate quizzes with me to ask questions, you aren't the only one at all. It's not a "problem", but I prefer other way of communication.
I would be an horrible dictatorial teacher.
NYA (regarding the nickname you put for me lol). But ok. I will do this. It’s because you have so much comments, that you can’t see all of them, and I chose the option of create a collab quiz, as you are creating the series of Focus Sur. But ok.
@MG17 ...! And which interview...?
You are a very nice support on this blog series!
