JetPunk app?

+4
I just write a very short "informative" post.

Many users everytime ask Stewart about a JetPunk app, and he gives everytime the same answer: no.

So, for all the users who wanted it, now you know that it will probably never happen.

P.S.: I just did it to stop these suggestions with I think Stewart loose many time unnecessarily. Thanks!

I'm laughing right now. When I read the title, I was about to click the comment button to write a very long comment explaining why it would never happen - until I read the content! :)

Someone will probably comment without reading, like you alsmost did. But yes, this situation can be funny. It would be funny too if Stef2 reads this post.

Just to expand on this, given the opportunity.

There are many reasons why an app for JetPunk won't ever happen:

  • Apps are expensive to make. They can take many months for a small team of developers to make for a site as expansive as JetPunk. However, since JetPunk only has two developers (me and Quizmaster), this would inevitably take years.
  • Those years would be best used towards something else JetPunk related. For example new features like The SVG Update I just released yesterday. That alone took 7 weeks!
  • Apps without marketing make very little money. Since JetPunk doesn't have enough profits to afford advertising, it is very likely we may not even make back a fraction of what would be spent on the app, thus rendering it a constant loss of income.
  • We already have a mobile site! We already have a mobile browser site designed, and so the extra effort on an app would be a waste.

Agreed. The mobile design is perfect and there is nothing wrong with it. If you're a fan of apps, you can save the website in an 'app-form' which iOS offers (not sure about Android)

yep, you can do it with Android too.

In addition to this, you don’t need to fill your cellphone with apps. That’s the bad example of Sporcle. They already have a (horrible) mobile website, with the shameless of having a paid app. That's why I say that nobody cares about ethics and learning, just money in their pocket.
