What if the Roman Empire Reunited Today?

+9

At its height in 117AD, the Roman Empire was the most powerful empire in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Like all empires however, history was cruel to the Romans and it soon vanished into time. Europe and the world has completely changed since then but nonetheless, what would a reunited Roman Empire in the 21st Century be like?

Population and Land

As always, the first thing we need to think about is the population and land of the newly recreated Roman Empire. First of all, a total of 53 Countries would lose all or some of their land to the empire over a total of a gargantuan 6,330,000 square kilometres but it would be only the 7th Largest Country in the world being just ahead of India (3,287,263 square kilometres), but remaining well behind other massive countries like Australia (7,692,024 square kilometres), and Brazil (8,515,767 square kilometres). As well as a huge land area, the Roman Empire would also have an immense population of around 710,000,000. This is huge and would be enough to put it in 3rd place, in terms of population, being well ahead of the United States (328,200,000) but also remaining well behind India (1.381 Billion), and China (1.398 Billion). Next, the Capital City would be quite debatable as the Roman Empire had a few historical capitals but the most likely choice would be Rome as it was the first historical Roman Capital and is already the capital of modern-day Italy. However, Rome has a puny population and wouldn't even make it in the top 10 largest cities in the new empire! The largest city would be Cairo, in Egypt, with a massive population of 21,500,000 compared to Rome's tiny 3,800,000. Here would be the top 5 largest urban areas in the empires:
  1. Cairo (21,500,000)
  2. Istanbul (16,200,000)
  3. London (14,800,000)
  4. Paris (11,400,000)
  5. Madrid (6,700,000)

GDP and Money

As well as being a land juggernaut, the Roman Empire would also be an extremely prosperous nation with a nominal GDP of a massive $16 Trillion mainly because of the high GDP countries of the United Kingdom, France, and Italy being absorbed into the empire. This huge GDP would put it in 3rd place being well ahead of other wealthy nations like Japan ($4.85 Trillion) and Germany ($3.86 Trillion), however, it would be just behind China ($16.64 Trillion) and again well behind the United States ($20.81 Trillion). The GDP Per Capita wouldn't be so impressive though due to the poor areas of Iraq, Armenia, Libya, and Syria. As a result, the GDP per Capita would stand at an estimated $22,535 which is reasonable but is still quite a low value. This would put it in 39th place in terms of wages being ahead of Greece ($20,930), but remaining still behind Saudi Arabia ($23,490). Despite this, the Roman Empire would have an enormous income rate as it would find itself in control of the Suez Canal (The busiest canal in the world) and most of the Middle East's Oil Reserves.

Military Size

The Roman Empire would also have a gargantuan military as it would inherit many countries which have a massive military like the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, and Israel. Due to this, the empire would have a massive total force of around 6,000,000 soldiers. This would easily put it in 1st place having the largest standing force in the world. The Roman Empire would also have a massive nuclear arsenal inheriting the United Kingdom, France, and Israel's nukes. Having all of these would put it to a total of around 930 nukes which would definitely be a threat to any nation who opposed them.
Overall, the Roman Empire would definitely become a world superpower and a force to reckon with.t Let me end off by saying that this is absolutely impossible to happen and never will but it would be cool to think about if it did. This blog in the series was suggested by SirPhilippines so let me know if there are any other empires you want me to do. I know that there are a few which I haven't got round to do yet. But if there are any new ones you want me to do, then please tell me! Anyway, I would like to thank every one of you for reading and..... Goodbye!

While they are interesting, I believe it is because of the lack of length (though that makes it a fun read) and a bit of unoriginality.

Yes, you are true. I am not going to change the way how I make them anyway because I am just trying to share what Youtube has and also some of my own as well. I also think that it is because not many big jetpunkers like relessness, scambigol, and baptistegorce know who I am.

Thanks so much! It doesn't really take a lot of effort to make blogs unless you are trying to make really nice heading art and try and space out your paragraphs but a tip for making blogs is that you should never go too complicated; go simple style but not too simple. Anyways, can't wait for your first blog to come out!
